The event, hosted at London\u2019s ExCel, showcased a new feature for 2016 in the form of The Flood Expo Awards, designed to recognise and celebrate companies and products pushing forward in the areas of flood innovation, mitigation and resilience.<\/span><!--more--><span class=\"s1\">Aquaread is thrilled to have been nominated for The Resilience Award, a category created to recognise the \u201cbest product or service designed to help its user resist flooding, minimising or totally eradicating altogether the damage caused by flooding.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chris Peacock, our technical marketing director, and Craig Harrison, our managing director, had to pitch to a panel of industry experts including Nick Bean, from Mott MacDonald Group, and Teresa Cannon, from Norwich City Council, in order to explain why Aquaread\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aquaread.com\/portofolio\/leveline-ews-early-flood-warning-system\/\"><span class=\"s2\">LeveLine-EWS early flood warning system<\/span><\/a> deserved to win the award. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We were up against stiff competition from the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amari.at\/index.html\"><span class=\"s2\">Amari Austria<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cemex.co.uk\/flood-defense-and-water-management-solutions.aspx\"><span class=\"s2\">Cemex UK<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adlerandallan.co.uk\"><span class=\"s2\">Adler and Allan<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.environmentsolutions.dk\"><span class=\"s2\">Environment Solutions<\/span><\/a> and <span class=\"s2\">Crocodile Flood Solutions<\/span>, who all offer excellent flood resilience products and services. That\u2019s why we were thrilled to find out we had won! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4470\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aquaread.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSCF5550.jpeg\" alt=\"dscf5550\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The team were ecstatic to find out that our LeveLine-EWS system was found to be very innovative with regards to the resilience criteria, meaning that we were awarded a trophy to commemorate its success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\ufffc\ufffcChris was\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">thrilled with the result that the LeveLine-EWS received. He said: \u201cWhen presenting the LeveLine-EWS I really wanted to focus on the target audience of the flood alert product; people who are not effectively covered by the environment agency flood alerts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI explained that the product could be utilised by the whole community once deployed, at no extra cost, thanks to the ability to send it a simple text message and get an instant answer on water level. The judges could see the benefit in this novel approach, especially how it could help the older generation get some peace of mind when the rains come late at night.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Craig was also excited that the system was receiving recognition for its community-helping potential. He said: \u201cGetting recognition for our early warning system by winning the award for flood resilience is a great achievement which we are all really proud of.
